My Writing Process... Publication Day!
Hello! I get a lot of questions about writing and how I do it, so I thought I'd share my process. And we’re at the finish line: Publication Day! Book release day is like a rollercoaster ride—equal parts excitement and nausea!
Publication: The book is ready for the world!
Uploading a book to Amazon is always an exciting and nerve-racking day! It’s like sending your child off to school for the first time, except instead of a classroom, it’s a bookshelf (or a Kindle)!
My books are all exclusively on Amazon and KindleUnlimited. So, to prepare for release day, I upload the final draft, the book cover, and set the pricing… then I hit “PUBLISH!”
The first time was scary. It took a while for me to click that mouse button, but I did it and here I am today with 7 books out there in the world and more to come!
And that’s that… a behind-the-scenes look at how I turn a bunch of random words into a book!
Well, that’s not really the end. There’s plenty of self-doubt, fear, the dreaded marketing and social media, and second-guessing! But… It’s so worth it! It’s exciting to know people are reading something you created with your mind and hands. It's a long journey, but the end result is a story that will bring joy to readers for years to come.
The point of this series was to give you some insight into an author’s process. I’d say ‘an author’s life,’ but we don’t usually have time for one! Either way, I hope you enjoyed the journey!
I plan to do another series to go into more detail with step-by-steps of how to use some of the software I've mentioned. I am not a pro, by any means, but I know a little something and can share what knowledge I have!
I'm also going to do a series on YouTube where I speak of these things with my face and voice... on video... for everyone to see! Yikes! I'm an introverted author, the idea of being on video makes me sweat, but I'm gonna give it a go! So, if you don't want to miss out on the awkwardness, follow me on YouTube!
Now, go find a new book to read!
Happy Reading!
